Cabling
WARNING: The 3DM-GV7 is NOT IP68 rated without the correct cabling properly attached.
WARNING: Over-tightening the connector screws during cable installation can permanently damage the 3DM-GV7 enclosure.
How to Properly Install a 3DM-GV7 Cable
By following the two simple rules below, the 3DM-GV7 will achieve its IP68 rating.
Rule One
Use only cables approved for use with the 3DM-GV7. See table below.
Part Numbers | Description |
---|---|
6212-0032 | IP68 Micro-D9 to USB with GPIO breakouts |
6212-0031 | IP68 Micro-D9 to RS232 with GPIO breakouts |
6212-1200 | IP68 Micro-D9 to flying leads |
Rule Two
The screws which attach the Micro-D9 connector to the 3DM-GV7 enclosure must be snug, but not overtightened.
Tighten by hand, using only your fingers or a small slotted screw driver. Tighten to approximately 1 in-lbs. Do not exceed 1.5 in-lbs. The metal face plate of the connector should stop against the 3DM-GV7 enclosure. Do not tighten beyond this point. Over-tightening can permanently damage the 3DM-GV7 enclosure.
