Why does my Windows machine lose network connectivity when I turn on Web Reputation / Firewall / Intrusion Prevention?

When you deploy

to a machine for the first time, the Deep Security Agent installs a network driver so it can examine traffic.

During the driver installation, there's a blip in network availability and the machine will become unreachable for a period of time.

The same driver is used for all three features listed above. Turning on Web Reputation, Firewall or Intrusion Prevention for a machine that has one of those features already turned on will not cause another network blip. You may see a similar interruption in network connectivity when the agent is upgraded (as the driver may also need to be upgraded).
