Deploy the Script
Scripts are deployed from the Dashboard on one or multiple devices as Script Checks (24x7 or daily frequency) on Windows, Linux and Macs or as Automated Tasks on Windows and Macs.
The following steps cover the addition of a Script Check and Automated Task on a single machine. Please visit Script Checks and Automated Tasks for information on managing the scripts on one or more devices.
Script Check
- Select the device in the north panel of the Dashboard
- Go to the Checks tab
- Add Check
- Choose the Check frequency
- Add 247
- DSC Check
- Select Script Check
- Configure the Check
- Select the script
- Click Next to configure the script
- Enter or configure the script parameters (if required)
- Set a Script timeout in the range 1 - 3600 seconds (default 120 seconds)
- To run an Automated Task when the Check fails choose Assign a Task after creating the Check (Windows and Mac)
- Finish to save and apply
- Where Assign a Task after creating the Check is selected (Windows and Mac)
- Select the script
- Click Next
- Enter the Command Line parameters (if required)
- Set a Script timeout in the range 1 - 3600 seconds (default 120 seconds)
- Finish to save and apply
Scripts are displayed and grouped by function in expandable and contractable sections with the ability to search for a script).
Only scripts associated with the device's Operating System and uploaded for Script Checks are displayed.
Automated Task
Tasks Tab
- Highlight the device in the north pane
- Go to Tasks > Add Automated Tasks
Device Context Menu
- Right-click on the device in the north pane (or from the Server, Workstation or Device drop-down)
- Task > Add
Select and Configure Task
Regardless of the selection method, the next stage is to select and configure the Task
- Select the script
- Click Next to configure the Task
- Enter or configure the script parameters (if required)
- Set a Script timeout in the range 1 - 3600 seconds (default 120 seconds)
- Click Next to set the frequency
- Select Frequency Method
- Once per Day
- Choose Run on days (select one day to run weekly)
- At Time
- Once per Month
- Choose Day of Month on which toRun
- At Time
- On Check Failure
- Choose When Check Fails Check from the drop-down
- Select the check identified from the drop-down
- Manual (Run Task as required from the Dashboard)
- Once per Day
- Click Next to set frequency options
- Run Task for a limited period (for Once per day and Once per Month)
- Enter Start Date and Start Time
- Enter End Date and End Time
- Set Maximum Execution Time (all frequencies) prevents the Task overrunning
- Enter the maximum Days, Hours and Minutes run time before the Task is canceled
- If missed run ASAP (for Once per day and Once per Month)
- Run Task for a limited period (for Once per day and Once per Month)
- Finish to save and apply
