Mathematics in the Community: Leveraging Common Practices to Empower Students and Families

Description

This session will describe how teachers can tweak routine practices, such as making a classroom newsletter and selecting good mathematics tasks, to build on students' knowledge in their homes and communities. We will discuss how we utilize community knowledge to engage in these practices and will guide participants through the processes.
