History: Robert Crosby Hill came to Whidbey Island in 1853, in search of work, and took a Donation Land claim, eventually building this house.  In 1883, Hill sold his farm to E.H.S. Spangler.  Wilbur Sherman bought the property from the heirs of Joe Arnold in 1938, and had carpenter Fred Krueger build an addition on the west façade in 1949.  Only 3 original windows remain intact; the others were replaced in 1960 by Sherman. 

Description: Vernacular Farmhouse.  Wood frame set on brick/concrete foundations; rectangle (18’ x 60’); 3 bays wide; 1 1/2-stories.
