History: H.B. Lovejoy, local craftsman/builder, constructed this house as his own residence c. 1889. In 1906, the house was sold to Mr. Van Olinda, local realtor, for $850. The house sold again in 1914 for $600 to Haakon Iversen. The Iversen’s traded the house to James Zylstra in 1917. Zylstra was active in county and state government, in addition to holding city office as Mayor and school board member. Zylstra lived in the house until 1954. Jimmie Jean Cook purchased the house in 1955 and lived there until 1983.

Description: Second Empire Residence. Wood frame set on post and block foundation; square with a 1-story hip roof addition on the south façade; 3 bays wide; 2-stories; shiplap siding; wood-shingled mansard roof with a center band of fishcale shingles; corbelled center chimney.
