History: In 1889, John Robertson and Chris Fisher entered an agreement to construct a hotel on Robertson’s property. The hotel was leased to Fisher for five years. Robertson sold the hotel to Thomas Calhoun in 1894. The building remained the property of the Calhoun family until sold to the McPherson’s in 1970. From 1889 to the late 1940’s the building served as a hotel with eleven rooms on the third floor, residence for the owners on the second floor, and commercial space on the first floor. In the late 1940’s, the third floor rooms were converted into 3 apartments. The building was originally constructed with a flat roof. The mansard roof was added about 10 years later. The first floor front façade has been modified; the off-set entry to the east has been replaced by a center entry and the 1/1 double-hung sash windows have been replaced by single pane fixed sash. The second and third floor front façade remain intact. A slide door has been added on the east façade. The addition to the south was constructed in the 1920’s.
