History: This was the first false front commercial building constructed in Coupeville. Abram Alexander owned the building which originally housed the Elkhorn Saloon. From 1884 to 1892, the building served as a drug store. The building was enlarged in 1888 when Dr. Joshua Highwarden leased it. For many years, in the early 1900’s, the building served as the Post Office. It became known as the Bishop Building during the years it served as Dr. Paul Bishop’s office.

Description: False Front Commercial. Wood frame set on post and block/concrete foundation; rectangle; 3 bays wide; 1-story; shiplap siding; asphalt-shingled gable roof; center chimney with second interior end chimney on east façade.
