History: This house was built in 1892 by Thomas Richards. It was purchased in 1908 by Sergeant Thomas Clark, a soldier at Fort Casey. Members of the Clark family occupied the house until 1914. From 1947 to 1969, Fred Burchell occupied the lower floor of the house. The house sat vacant for the next ten years. The Madsen’s purchased it in 1979 with the stipulation that the house would be moved to a new location. The original location was the south-west corner of Fort Casey Road and Terry Road.
Description: Vernacular Farmhouse with Queen Anne Elements. Wood frame set on concrete foundation. 1-story hip roof addition on east façade; 3 bays wide; 2-stories; shiplap siding with octagon singles on gable ends; paired corbelled interior chimneys. Exterior features include 1/1, 2/2 double-hung sash with segmental surrounds on 1st floor.
