History: Fred Arnold had this house built for his family in 1928. Rances Zylstra was the carpenter. The house remains in the Arnold family today. The big barn pre-dates the house (1918), and the hip-roofed square barn was built in 1942. The garage (c.1937) directly west of the house has a slate roof, salvaged from Fort Casey where buildings were being torn down, and materials were being sold off to the public.
