History:  This home was originally built on Monroe’s Landing beach by Anthony W. Monroe for his daughter who never lived in the house.  It remained in A.W. Monroe’s possession until 1932 when Frank VandeWerfhorst, Sr. purchased the house.  It was moved to its present site in 1946 and sold to Frank VandeWerfhorst, Jr.  In 1936, a north addition was made to the house, with a back porch being added in 1956.  The barn dates from 1899 and was also built by A.W. Monroe, on his own property.  The barn was bought and moved by Frank VandeWerfhorst, Jr. in recent years. 

Description:  Vernacular Residence.  Wood frame set on concrete foundation; irregular (26’ x 32’) with flat roof addition on west faced; 3 bays wide; 1 1/2-stories.
