Packaging types can be added manually or by uploading from an Excel spreadsheet.  See Upload Packaging Types.

To add a new packaging type manually:

1. Access Packaging Types session.   See Access All Packaging Types.
2. Select a Trading Partner.

• The add button will not display until a trading partner is selected. 

3. Click Add.

Using the Generate Package Type window:

4. Select the Classification.
5. Select the How Used.
6. Select Component.
7. Select Material.
8. Select whether dedicated dunnage is required.
9. Fill in all required fields highlighted in yellow:

• Packaging dimensions. For guidance see How to Measure.
• Tare weight (weight of empty container). 
• Maximum containers per layer.  This value will be used in the As Shipped Summary section of the Product Data Sheet.
• Maximum containers per 50 inch high pallet or use the Select Layers to Calculate drop down if you would like the system to calculate Maximum Containers per Pallet.

10. Click Generate Description.  

• A system generated packaging code is created.  See System Generated Package Code
• Administrators and users with packaging type delete functionality can enter a company specific packaging code.  See Override the System Generated Package Code.

11. Select Default Unit Load that will be used with the base container.   By setting the default unit load, the unit load characteristics would be auto-populated on the PDS when the base container is selected.
12. Enter any additional information that is available. 
13. Click Create.
