The MRP pattern defines how material requirements are sent to the supplying MRP areas. The MRP pattern is defined at the Item Supplying MRP Area Record. For each item, the MRP pattern is set. Multiple MRP patterns can be used for different parts. The MRP pattern is applied with a float pattern to determine the required minimum inventory for each time period. 

The MRP pattern defines the following:

• The number of days where the forecast is frozen commonly referred as the frozen period. This means no new orders should be placed in this time frame.
• The start date of new requirements, i.e.synchronous pulls.
• The number of days of hourly firm requirements, i.e.pull days.
• The number of days of daily forecast requirements.
• The number of months of monthly forecasts.

Using the Advanced menu, click Item Sourcing > MRP Patterns.
