Broadcast Codes
Previous Topic  Next Topic

Broadcast codes are “short descriptions” used to identify the items needed to produce an order.  Broadcast codes can be used in place of the actual item number to assist production personnel with identifying the correct item. If an item has a broadcast position assigned in the engineering item master, the item can be sequenced or the broadcast code for the item can be used on a broadcast sheet.

The example below illustrates different broadcast codes being used to assist an operator with building a certain model refrigerator coming down the line.  The operator's display shows next order, current order and last order.  Broadcast Codes appear in boxes under the Sequence ID, Serial Number and Model description.  The broadcast sheet being used is defined with 2 rows and 2 columns allowing for four broadcast positions to be displayed each containing a unique broadcast code.
