DS-Client Help : Working with backups : Backup types : Self-contained backups

Self-contained backups
Self-contained backups allow you to perform backup and restore activities using only local storage. Data is stored locally on a local disk or UNC path. You can create up to five Self-contained backups with up to 10 GB of protected data. The stored data is compressed and only the latest generation of a file is protected.
Before creating a Self-contained backup, you must configure the local storage path. For more information, see “Configuring the parameter settings”.
NOTE:  You cannot convert a Self-contained backup to an Online backup. However, you can use the clone feature to duplicate it as a new Online backup. For more information, see “Cloning a backup”.
