Local-only backups
Local-only backups are the same as Self-contained backups but do not have restrictions on the number of sets or capacity. Your service provider must enable the Local-only Capacity tool and assign a maximum storage amount for the DS-Client. Local-only backup data is protected from accidental or inadvertent deletion by a Safe Delete mechanism.
Data is stored locally on a local disk or UNC path. Stored data is compressed, but no master or delta processing is applied. The total amount of Local-only storage is allocated from the DS-System. There must be enough capacity available in the local storage path to accommodate the total amount of Local-only capacity licensed.
NOTE: You can convert a Local-only backup to an Online backup. For more information, see
“Converting a backup”.
