Generating an Extensions Report
An Extensions Report displays a list of the scanned files on the network based on the extension. The Top Report displays the top file extensions. The Customized Report displays a list of specific file extensions.
To view the Extensions Report:
1. On the Tools menu, point to LAN Storage Discovery, and then click Extensions.
2. To search for the most frequent file extensions, do the following:
a) Click Top Report.
b) In the Select top box, enter the number of the top file extensions you want to view.
c) To view the largest file extensions, select With greatest size.
d) To view the most frequent file extensions, select With biggest count.
e) In the Share box, specify if you want to view all shares or a specific share.
f) To include the total of all other files from the searched shares, select the Include Total check box.
g) Click OK.
3. To search for selective file extensions, do the following:
a) Click Customize Report.
b) Click Add.
c) Select the color that you want to view in the graph for the report.
d) In the Extensions box, type the extension without a period (e.g. txt, exe, dll, pdf).
e) To include items in the graph that represent the total of all other file extensions from the searched shares, select the Include Other check box.
NOTE: To remove an extension, select the extension, and then click Remove.
f) In the Share box, specify if you want to view all shares or a specific share.
g) Click OK.
4. To view the report by size, select View by size.
5. To view the report by number of files, select View by number of files.
6. Click Close.
