Have you heard the news? Netscape's next browser package is going to be 6 months early! And Microsoft's next offering is expected soon too...

The rate at which new browsers are being created is ludicrous. We are getting many great new features, I will admit. But the number of security lapses, bugs and the instability of the programs don't make for an unacceptable compromise.

The competition has been fierce, browsers such as Oracle's PowerBrowser, NCSA Mosaic and others lie on the wayside, forgotten and beaten. So now its between Microsoft and Netscape, and neither is going to give up soon, there's too much at stake. Who suffers? Us, the consumer.

Both major browsers crash with unnerving frequency. Explorer more than Navigator is subject to some serious security flaws, but neither meets the lowest security expert's expectations.

Its time they concentrated on giving us a fast, secure and stable program onto which they can safely add the bells and whistles we've come to expect. Until they do we'll continue clicking Ignore to those GPFs.
