I just hate pointless gimmicks. They're a waste of time, money and energy. One that I often see advertised with PCs is the TV tuner card. What is the point of seeing low quality TV on a small screen?

Most people have quite large TVs which are in comfortable rooms where the family can view their favourite programs together. The computer is usually kept in a spare room where one person can sit and fiddle in peace. So where is the almighty convergence that people have been predicting?

The dumbest thing of all is that the TV card's greatest use is illegal. Many people take screen shots with their TV cards for personal use or to put up on web sites. But that's illegal, as shown by the monstrous Viacom who are trying to close down fan sites due to their unauthorised use of pictures etc. I know, its stupid. Viacom is killing the base of loyal customers that Paramount built up. But the point is that if all the media companies had a gripe then why don't they just put pressure on manufacturers to stop bundling TV cards.
