I'm sure that you are aware of the huge amounts of hype the media have currently been piling onto the Internet. This unfortunately creates artificially high expectations. Many people confuse predictions of what it MIGHT be able to do in a couple of years with what it offers now.
I recently had the opportunity to watch a large number of new users browse the Internet for the first time. They were so eager that the network crashed under the weight of the heavy traffic. When restored people were soon becoming disillusioned by how difficult it was to find what you wanted. They expected answers to everything they asked. They expected live video and instant CD-ROM like multimedia. Not quite the reality.
Obviously the Internet is good for a great many things, such as cheaply providing large amounts of continuously updated information, but it still has a long way to go. So it would help if the Media would give us Netizens a chance to get it right.
