What's dumb is this whole feature- Dumb. What a stupid thing to do! Who on earth wants to read a feature EVERY WEEK about the dumbest things around like fax machines, floppy disks, space pens and more?

So this week we going to talk about something really really really stupid instead. What is it? Its the annoying fact that whenever you are going to do something important the technology fails.

You NEED some music and the batteries in your Discman die. You've got a crucial visitor to give a demo to and the network crashes spectacularly and permanently (until the visitor has gone, that is). The play is about to begin and the lights blow. The magic moment is about to end and the camera gets stuck (or the film runs out, your choice).

I've decided the only way to get around these problems is to collect every single piece of technology we own and donate it to art schools. In that way every morsel will be used creatively to bring to life the most ghastly works of art ever envisaged by mankind. Then we can sit and ponder the stupidity of the situation.

Ah, Windows95 has booted up! The things one does to pass the boot-up time.
