Oh sweet, dear Windows 95. How I smiled shyly and felt warm deep inside when you wiped my hard disk. How I giggled happily when you wouldn't boot. It was love at first click when I reinstalled from floppy. How I cried with joy when you corrupted our long file names.

The sweet flirtings of love with our beloved operating system.

Quite frankly, its only when you see someone on their bad days that you truly get to know them. And by jove I got to see what Win95 is really like.

Deep down it is poorly constructed with many illogical aspects, a screwy interface, an underperforming kernel and generally dire stability.

Microsoft FrontPage 97 is a good program, I'm using it right now. Relatively bearable interface, quite stable for a Win95 program and with powerful features. But (yes here comes the "but") the setup program for FrontPage is an abomination, please Bill, deal with the lowly programmer responsible for my having to reinstall four times!

But that's enough negative stuff. Let's talk positive...Be Inc. have announced that the great BeOS is coming to Intel architecture RSN (real soon now) which means that you and I can look forward to amazing performance on a stable platform. Alternatively you could always buy a good value PowerPC Macintosh (which already runs the BeOS), add a little MacOS 8 and you are guaranteed a pleasurable computing experience.
