Wanna find people on your wavelength? Here's the place to do it!

Wavelength offers several features. Firstly we'll be showing off the best of the e-mail responses to our articles. We also give you the opportunity to e-mail us and lastly we introduce a new chat aspect! We hope you like the new features and do e-mail us your comments! [ jump to chat details ]

Our article on Push Media generated a lot of mail! Here's some of it:

One "push" product wasn't mentioned at all in the Wired article (perhaps because our marketeers didn't latch on to the push phenomena fast enough for their press lead).

Intermind Communicator pushes web content to subscriber's desktops - but it isn't tied to an old media model. Anyone can make a channel with our software - and for free as well. No extra server software needed, no editorial control on our part. Can't hurt to take a look... http://www.intermind.com

Jeep replies: Sorry Alan. I was actually aware of Intermind but didn't realise your regarded yourselve as Push media. So kick those marketeers up the butt!

IMHO "push media" sounds like just another way of the dying "old" media ramming their adverts down the throats of an unwilling audience...

Since i hate *spam* as much as the next guy, i don't see it catching on, unless *they* *pay* us ot receive the stuff...

Jeep replies: Exactly, Pete. Its old media trying to repackage itself inside a new medium which just isn't going to work.

Someone also commented on our Select Site choice last week:

carl is a fine man, but the reputation of suck has certainly dimmed considerably since it started feeding itself on cotton candy (and since people such as yourself started kissing up to it), and the legitimacy of your "Select Site" has dimmed even darker since you're choosing "new thing" sites that are well over a year old and as stupid and useless now as they were when they were new.

Jeep replies: If you'd seen j-dom 1.0 you would have seen how much we took apart Suck which was really crap at the time. But Suck has picked up and due respect must be given to such a popular site, but it ain't perfect. Select Site doesn't aim for the newest or latest sites. It offers only the best sites. Placing.com was last week's choice because its different, fun and well designed.

So what's all this about chat?!? Not idle natter but serious discussion - connect to irc.demon.co.uk with an Internet Relay Chat client like mIRC and connect to the #j-dom channel at 4.30pm (GMT) on Sunday 16th March till about 6.30pm. I'll be there (Jason Kitcat: Editor-in-Chief) and some other contributors might turn up! So come along and discuss the important issues that matter to the Net.
