Windows '95 Questions and Answers

Q: "All my icons are corrupted (look odd)!"
A: You can do one of two things:

1) You can, delete a file called: ShellIconCache. in the Windows Directory, and reboot the machine.
2) Or you can get a application from the Microsoft web site called TweakUI (PowerToys), which has a option to fix the problem in the 'Repair' Section.

Q: "In Explorer I have just moved a file somewhere, and I don't know where."
A: Pull down the Edit menu and choose "Undo Move". This also works for copying, and nearly every other function you can do in Explorer.

Q: "I Liked the old style Windows, with Program Manager."
A: Strangely enough Program Manager is still included in Windows '95. The filename for it is: Progman.exe in the windows directory.

Q: "I'm running out of Disk Space on my computer, what can I do?"
A: Well you could DriveSpace it, but I don't recommend it! Instead go in to Control Panel, and select Add/Remove Programs. Now see if there are any Programs installed which you don't think you are using, or need. Once you've had a look there, click on the 'Windows Setup' Tab. Now de-select some items which you think you haven't used or won't use.

PnP - Plug 'n' Play

A system which allows hardware add-ons to be installed and configured automatically with hardly any user intervention. With PCs you need to have PnP capable software (e.g. Windows '95) and hardware including BIOS.
