Nearly 40 years after they
hit the big-time, Stockholm
opens an Abba museum
Sweden is finally celebrating
its most famous export, as
the Abba Museum opens in
Djurgarden,
Stockholm,
on 7
May. One of the biggest bands
of the 1970s, Abba followed
their Eurovision smash
Waterloo
with classics such as
Dancing
Queen, Mamma Mia
,
Knowing
Me, Knowing You
and
Thank
You for the Music
.
Curator Ingmarie Halling
drew on her memories of
working with the band. “We’ve
made it feel like you’re walking
in the band’s footsteps,” she
explains. “You come into the
office, into the studio, the
stage, and the dressing room.
It’s like a film documentary,
made into an exhibition.”

Ever left something behind
on your travels because you
just couldn’t be bothered
lugging it all the way back
home? We’ll bet it was never
as big as a 20ft sea container,
of which many are abandoned
having transported goods
to the port of Antwerp. Well,
not anymore. Inspired by trendy
retail “pop up”, Sleeping Around
is a hotel pop-up that recycles
these wayward carriers by
converting them into luxurious
hotel rooms. Now don’t expect a
gutted out, makeshift affair.
Instead, think mod-cons: rain
showers, high-quality linen, iPod
docking stations, air conditioning
and box-spring beds. There’s even
a sauna container for your holiday
pleasure. Locations change
constantly (at time of press it
could be found in Antwerp,
just a 40-minute drive from
Brussels
)
so keep up-to-date
