COOLIOZUM
Through a little downtown
courtyard on ul. Sw Marcin
45, the Cooliozum is not just a
sports bar – perhaps the best
in Poland – but also a purveyor
of rare beers from Polish and
regional microbreweries. Every
day sees a new beer promotion
– unpasteurised Perła one day,
Einsiedler Bock the next – while
UK ales such as Hen’s Tooth,
Spitfire and St Andrew’s are
regular fixtures on the bar
counter. They take their table
football seriously, with weekly
tournaments, and this is where to
find local branches of fan clubs
for Warta Poznan, Real Madrid
and Manchester United.

O’BOXERS
While themed around another
passion, the noble art of
boxing, the pub-like O’Boxers
is nonetheless a sports bar
par excellence, with a real feel
for the needs of the visiting
supporter. Surprisingly large,
with its interior divided into
different sections, O’Boxers has
dedicated individual walls to
specific boxing idols. You’ ll find
an autographed, life-sized image
of Ricky Hatton, Muhammad
Ali’s quote about bees and
butterflies translated into
Ukrainian, and several images
of local hero and reigning WBC
Heavyweight Champion Vitali
Klitschko. A table football league
gets some serious treatment as
the night goes on.

LAZIENKOWSKA 3
While many gather in inferior,
US-style sports bars in the city
centre, the more discerning
should head here, at the Polish
Army Stadium of Warsaw’s
leading club, Legia. Expansive
and shining lurid green in the
colours of Legia, Lazienkowska 3
also has archive black-and-white
shots from the club’s history,
each framed by celluloid strips
for retro effect. There’s a kids’
area with a table football table,
and themed dishes on the menu.
DRINK:
Zywiec beer
EAT:
Deyna bagel, from a
recipe by the late Legia star’s wife
