While the stadiums roar to the sound of
Euro 2012, we sample the best sports bars on
the Wizz Air network. Well, someone had to…
A
T THIS SUMMER’S FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT,
it’s not only the only brand-new stadiums and
fan zones in the tournament’s eight host cities
that supporters will be making for. In Poland and
the Ukraine – all across Europe, in fact – sports bars
will be packed with crowds enjoying the big-match
atmosphere. Providing affordable beers, knowledgeable
chatter and the local (invariably grilled) speciality in
manly portions, with maybe a table football spinning in
one corner, sports bars are the liveliest places to meet
up over the course of 90 minutes and more. Given that
football is the common ground here, English is the most
common language between staff and customers, as
well as and on menus – the Hungarian visiting Poznan
or the Bulgarian passing through Budapest should be
able to work out what’s on offer.
Many bars are of the standardised, US variety, but by
no means all – some have a historic vibe, with classic
Sputnik-era photos on the wall and bags of character.
Here is a selection of the best sports bars in Wizz Air
destinations around Europe to give you inspiration
for seeking out your city’s best bars for the
Championship. This is the bar line-up to help you drink,
watch and join in the football frenzy.
