While our beachside destinations are getting a lot of approving nods
from the media, so are our artists. In this season of cinema awards,
we make special note of filmmaker Jun Lana (his film
Bwakaw
earned
major props from the critics) who tells us how traveling informs his
art (check out Chikka Wanderlust on page 43). Also in this issue’s
Chikka gallery is a quick chat with writer Marivi Soliven, whose
upcoming book,
The Mango Bride
,
promises to be an enjoyable
summer read (page 34). In other news, we can’t seem to say it
often enough: Bali, and everything that it has — mystic
