LotteWorld,
Seoul
Billed as the world’s largest indoor
theme park, Lotte World packs a
surprising number of rides under its
expansive roof. The French Revolution,
for instance, tunnels through caves and
loops over a walkway in a whiplash-
inducing two-minute ride. If the park’s
rollercoasters feel like too much
adrenaline for one day, you can just ride
a “hot air balloon” that takes you high
above the park’s Colosseum-like interior.
The park has an outdoor component
too, called “Magic Island” — it’s linked
to the indoor “Adventure” section via
monorail. This area offers a fairy-tale
castle, more rides and a view of nearby
Seokchon Lake that only improves
when you’re taken 70m up the Gyro
Drop, before you’re unceremoniously
dropped like a rock.
Other attractions include a 3D
theater, an ice rink, a department store
and an almost endless selection of fast-
food outlets. To get to Lotte World, ride
the Seoul Subway Line 2 and get off
at Jamsil station. Head to Exit 4; signs
will point you in the right direction.
