of the festival’s 10 stages to go to. Jazz
Island features international acts like The
Duke Ellington Orchestra and Jeff Lorber
Fusion; Party Stage has jazz and world
music with the Jason Lee Group and Iva
Lamkum; while Jazz Cube offers a mix of
jazz, contemporary, standards, classical
and folk with the Barnicle Bill Trio and the
Luca Ciarla Quartet, to name just a few.

comes the story of a snail who rides
on a humpback whale so it can
travel the world. The unlikely pair
encounters sharks, penguins, icebergs

to pluck up the courage to solve the
problem himself and save the day.

KUALA LUMPUR
The Kuala Lumpur 48 Hour
Film Project
October 5–7, 12–14, 19–21
Writing, directing and editing a short film
in just 48 hours yields interesting results
especially if you have to work with a
random genre and add a character, a line
in the dialogue, and a prop in your project
from Kuala Lumpur’s two city producers.
The participants’ pieces will be screened at
Suria KLCC’s TGV cinemas, with the winner
of “Best Film of Kuala Lumpur” receiving
a RM30,000 film grant and two tickets to
Filmapalooza 2013 in Hollywood. Tickets
to shows will be sold online from October
9–13
