As our boat docked at Cat Ba Island,
Leonarda was on deck watching this
taxi-boat pick up some locals. The
thick fog and the cool blue light at that
time added plenty of atmosphere to
an otherwise mundane scene. When
bad weather arrives, by all means keep
shooting — the mood in your shots
may not be bright and sunny, but it
does possess its own kind of drama.

The photographer took this quick portrait of a local kid on the back of a motorbike,
seconds before his father zoomed off to join the hectic Hanoi traffic. When shooting
street life, always keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready at all times. The
right equipment also helps — in this case, a wide aperture lens that blurred out the
background and made the subject stand out.
