Panglao’s seaside luxury retreats make for the
perfect rejuvenating, post-merrymaking retreat
The Bohol and
the beautiful
The Bellevue
Resort
The island’s newest resort (it officially
opened in mid-November) is part of the
Bellevue chain that has properties in
Metro Manila. Apart from an azure-tiled
infinity pool with such a spectacular
view that you won’t want to leave it, the
five-star resort includes “a spa village
dedicated to the pursuit of wellness, and
recreational facilities to please your every
whim.” We’re liking the sound of that.
Amorita
Its name means ‘little darling’, explains owner Ria Cauton,
and that’s exactly what this gem of a beachside resort is —
private villas half-hidden by lush foliage, pathways lined with
shrubbery, and a lounging decks around a pool that look out to
the Bohol Sea. While it looks like a great honeymoon retreat,
the sizeable suites make it perfect for the whole family as well.
Amarela Beach
Resort
We’ve come across few resorts
that are as tastefully done as
this retreat. Amarela features as
much of the local culture as it
does state-of-the art facilities
—
the main hall’s ceiling was
hand-woven by local artisans,
and all around the property
are wooden sculptures done in
the traditional carving method.
Stone steps take guests from
the main building, down to a
pretty, medium-sized pool, and all
the way through to the beach.
