What are you looking
forward to about the
American Idol
concert
tour? When do you start
rehearsals?
We’ve started rehearsals already and it
has been a blast. I cannot wait for the
fans to come see the lineup. It’s going to
be great! There will be stuff you haven’t
seen us do before.
Are you looking forward
to singing the Philippine
national anthem,
Lupang
Hinirang
, someday?
Did you chat with Kirby
Asunto who sang it at the
Pacquiao-Lewis match?
I did chat with Kirby, who is such a
little sweetheart. She sang
Lupang
Hinirang
amazingly that night! I don’t
know how to speak Tagalog so I think
it might be a bit weird. I would love to
learn, though; I have done Tagalog
songs when I was younger. But if I did
the Philippine national anthem, I would
rather sing every word on point if it’s for
Pinoy pride.
You will perform in the
Philippine stop of the
American
Idol
concert
tour. It will be your
first trip to your mom
,
s
native country. What are
you excited most about
your visit?
It’s going to be great. Like I said, the
show is going to be bunches of fun,
dancing and all. I’m also excited just
because it’ll be my first time to be out of
the US. I can’t wait!
What has your mom
told you about the
Philippines?
That it’s really hot there. My mom
hasn’t been there since she was about
five, so she doesn’t remember much,
but I’m looking forward to seeing it
for myself.
Jessica Sanchez will be in Manila for
American Idol Live! on September 21
at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. For

I’ve learned a lot about my heritage. I go
on Twitter and my supporters are always
talking about my heritage; plus I’m learning
new languages.
Have you heard from
Jennifer Holliday since
your impressive duet?
Of course! She’s my second mama. I love
her so much. She is truly amazing.
How did you feel when
you sang
The Star-
Spangled Banner
at the
Memorial Day Concert in
Washington, DC?
It was amazing. I sang the [American]
national anthem before. It was
amazing to be able to sing for the
pride of [fellow] Americans.
And how about singing the
anthem at the Pacquiao-
Lewis match?
Singing at the fight was so much fun. I’ve
never watched a fight in my life and to be
there was crazy cool. I’d love to do it again.
How was your
American
Idol
experience?
Everything was amazing: the whole
Idol
experience, the people, the judges and
just being able to live my dream!
What would you have
done differently in the
competition?
Nothing. I came in second place. I never
even imagined I’d make it close to
that. I must’ve done something right.
No regrets.
What can you say about
the unprecedented
support that Filipinos
and Latinos gave you?
My fans are amazing. Their support
means the world to me and I love them
with all my heart. They got me to where
I am today and I can’t wait to see and
sing to them.
How has that support
made you appreciate
your heritage?
