► DIE FAKTEN
Das Guinness-Museum ist das ganze
Jahr über geöffnet und hat sich mittler-
weile als Dublins größter Tourismusmag-
net etabliert. Eine Millionen Gäste be-
suchten 2011 die Hallen und es werden in
dem Museumsgebäude täglich 2.500
Liter gezapft. Jedes Jahr werden 450
Millionen Liter Guinness von Dublin aus in
150 Länder exportiert.
► DIE UMGEBUNG
Das Museum und die Brauerei gegen-
über, die noch in Betrieb ist, liegen imhis-
torischen Vier tel Liber ties. Heute ist
dieser Stadtteil bekannt für die engen
Gassen mit Kopfsteinpflaster und den
wöchentlichen Markt. Net te Antiqui-
tätsläden auf der Thomas Street verlei-
hen dem Stadt teil den besonderen
Charm des alten Dublin.
►COBBLEWOBBLE
The brewery is located in the historic
Liberties area of Dublin. Once a
self-governing district (hence the name),
today it has an urban feel, with vibrant
markets on Thomas Street. Stroll along the
cobbled streets surrounding the
Storehouse to take in the old Dublin charm.
But best do it on your way
to
the Guinness
museum, we wouldn’t want you to stumble
over the cobbles on your way back.
► THE CRAIC
The Storehouse is open almost all
year round and has become the biggest
tourist attraction in Dublin. In 2011 one
million Guinness lovers came to visit the
museum, with a staggering 2,500 pints
of black gold poured daily on this site
alone. What better place to get to know
the city – and the
craic
(the popular Irish
term for fun).
