Dieser 550 Quadratkilometer große Meerbusen besteht zu
einem großen Teil aus Inseln, Watt- und Marschland. Der nördliche Teil der Lagune ist von Ebbe und Flut
weitgehend abgeschnitten und enthält hauptsächlich Süßwasser, während der Südteil aus salzhaltigem
Meerwasser besteht. Das vielfältigeÖkosystemder Lagunewird durch landschaftliche Phosphate bedroht.

the Venetian Lagoon consists mainly of mud flats, salt marshes and tidal shallows. A place where freshwater
and saltwater meet, it is home to a multitude of aquatic species and attracts many birds, but is threatened by
agricultural phosphates that cause green algae blooms and reduce the oxygen content of thewater.
