OLIVE GROVE IN ANDALUCIA (37°22’ N, 6°05’ W)
The French photographer, journalist and ecologist Yann Arthus-Bertrand discovered
his love for aerial photographywhenhe stayed in theMasaiMara national park inKenya andused a hot-air balloon toobserve and photograph
lions. This kicked off a long-term photographic project that took him around the world and culminated in the publication of the book
Earth
from Above
. He explored landscapes all around the world using helicopters or hot-air balloons and found that the view from aloft often
revealed spectacular geometric patterns and breathtaking beauty. Shown here are rows of olive trees in Spain.
