Protz, Popkultur und Pornografie – Jeff
Koons macht in diesem Sommer Frank-
furt am Main gleich doppelt unsicher.
Bis zum 23. September stellt der teuer
gehandelte New Yorker Künstler seine
Bilder und Skulpturen aus. In der Schirn
Kunsthalle am Römerberg hängen mehr
als 40 knallbunte, großformatige Ge-
mälde von Koons. Auf der gegenüberlie-
genden Mainseite, im Liebieghaus, ste-
hen seine modernen Skulpturen im
Kontrast zur Sammlung des Museums,
die einen Überblick über 5.000 Jahre
Bildhauerei gibt. Neben Koons-Klassi-
kern wie der Michael Jackson-Skulptur
oder
Made in Heaven
, Koons nicht ganz
jugendfreier Hommage an seine kurze
Ehe mit La Cicciolina alias Ilona Staller,
können seine Fans in der Mainmetropo-
le auch ganz neue Werke entdecken.

mer, Frankfurt am Main serves up a double
helping of kitsch in the formof two Jeff Koons
exhibitions. Until 23 September, the suc-
cessful New York artist will be showing over
40 of his colourful, large format paintings in
the Schirn Kunsthalle am Römerberg. On
the opposite side of the River Main, the
Liebieghaus hosts an exhibition of his sculp-
tures, which will provide a stark contrast with
the works in its permanent collection, some
of which date back 5,000 years. Highlights
include Koons’ famous Michael Jackson
sculpture and his risqué tribute to his short
marriage to Italian porn star turned politician,
La Cicciolina,

ber) richtig. Das Theater-, Comedy-,
Opern- und Musikprogramm der Stadt
platzt in dieser Zeit aus allen Nähten.
Bücherwürmer sollten das Edinburgh
International Book Festival nicht ver-
passen. Es findet vom 11. bis 27.
August statt. Mehr als 800 Dichter sind
aus diesem Anlass in der Stadt zu Gast.
