Am 1. Dezember eröffnet am Züricher
Flughafen eine neue Zuschauerterrasse.
Passagiere können von nun an den Vor-
feldturm begehen, der sonst als Zugang
zu den Fluggastbrücken dient. Dies ist
weltweit der einzige Flughafen, bei dem
dies möglich ist. Man kann also am Flug-
zeug außen entlang laufen und sogar
vorne den Piloten im Cockpit zuschauen.
Ein Abenteuer für Kinder und erwachse-
ne Luftfahrt-Fans gleichermaßen. Auch
der neue Mini-Flugplatz bietet den klei-
nen Gästen einen Spielplatz, der den
Kontext kurzweilig thematisiert. Auch für
mediale Unterhaltung ist gesorgt mit In-
stallationen und grafischen Ausstel-
lungen, die jede Wartezeit erheblich
verkürzen.
On 1 December a new observation
deck will open at Zurich Airport. The deck
has been built over the corridors that
connect the lounge with the gates, making
Zurich the only airport in the world where
you can walk above the whole length of
the aircraft on the apron, and even view
the pilots in their cockpits. It’s a treat for
any aviation fan. There’s also a new
themed play area for children and a
selection of digital art and other exhibits
that will make your waiting time fly by.

Grad minus willkommen zu heißen (im
Verhältnis zu den minus 20 vor der Tür).

(visible) breath, and people usually think
you’re talking about Sweden: the Ice Hotel
in that country’s frozen north is the largest
and most famous of its kind in the world.
Three thousand kilometres further south,
you can also use ice to build – though only if
you do it where it’s really cold. So it is that
Ice Hotel Romania is opening its doors for
winter on Christmas Day, 2,000m up in
Transylvania’s Fagaras Mountains. The
10-room boutique hotel will entice guests in
with its toasty -2°C room temperature
(toasty in comparison to the -20°C outside).
Here they can wrap up in reindeer skins and
woollen blankets while nursing a vodka
from the ice bar, a stunning work of art by
Romanian ice sculptor Constantin Brancusi.
