Easyjet Traveller January 2014 - page 5

WE’RE FELINE IT
Cat venues are just one
of the big travel trends this
year. At least, according
to Lonely Planet’s
Best in
Travel 2014
. Meow.
GETTING JUICED UP
We’re loving the new Veto
V-3000 Juicer, the shiniest
way to get on board with
2014’s healthiest trend.
Kale and apple, anyone?
This month
we’re talking
about...
TOOMUCH?
For a seriously extreme
detox, head to Cyprus
with Aquarius (tinyurl.com/
o5fdnfl) and ‘enjoy’ coffee
enemas with dewormer. Ew.
COVER
ELLIOTT QUINCE
...Coconut water. Apparently, it’s the
most effective hangover cure out there.
More importantly, it’s bang on trend for
2014 and it doesn’t half go down well
with a slug of vodka for those who can’t
stay off the booze wagon.
It’s part of a guide to getting rid of
the January blues with some positive
drinking (like positive thinking, only
more fun), which comes courtesy of our
fab cocktail columnist, BarChick (p89).
There are other ways to clear your
head too. Take freediving. This fast-
growing pastime sees participants
eschewing breathing apparatus – instead
holding their breath as they dive as deep
as possible. According to Richard Fleury,
whomwe sent out for a week-long trip in
the Red Sea, it’s a uniquely relaxing way
to explore the ocean floor. He even got to
swimwith a dolphin or two. You can
read his account on page 52.
At the other extreme, there’s nothing
like a blast of cold mountain air to brush
away those cobwebs. But where to go?
Well, how does perfect powder,
uncrowded pistes and perhaps a nice
sauna sound? These are the reasons why
Voss, an hour from Bergen, is Norway’s
best-kept ski secret. Though, with the
help of photographer Sverre Hjørnevik,
who’s our guide this month (p70), we
might well have just blown the lid off
that one. Oops! Get there while you can.

I’ve got two
words to say to
anyone still feeling
the effects of the
party season...
A more enjoyable kind
of January blue. Our
