There are two things
Italians love: pastries
and the perfect
espresso.
MAJER
only
opened here five years
ago, but the crowds
round the counter
show it’s already
the preferred sweet
stop-off. Choose a
lemon tart, fruit pie,
strudel or chocolate
cake, priced at €1.20,
while an espresso still
costs just €0.90.

You can smell the
aroma of chocolate
wafting out of
RIZZO
CIOCCOCENTER
and, once inside, it’s
impossible to resist
the enticing array of
nearly 200 different
boiled sweets,
liquorice, toffee, jelly
babies, chocolates
and biscuits in this
archaic sweet shop.
Everything is sold by
weight, beginning at
€1.50 for 100g.
KOKONTON
GALLERY
opened
in February and is the
first gallery on the
street. It was set up by
two Japanese artists
and a Mexican
architect, Sandra
Escarria, who says,
Our aim is to give
something back to the
community and bring
a cultural project to
Via Garibaldi.”
