my job gives me permanent access
to the world of
music and I love that. I’m not a musician, but my
design ethos and the experimental style of
music at Sónar come together really well as a
graphic language. This year it’s been particularly
important, because it’s our 20th anniversary.
There’s an amazing line-up and we’ve been
working on the theme of celebration, but it’s
intense so I need some down time.
For that I like coming to
BAR SECO

].
It’s off the beaten track
and not so touristy. It’s where
people from the barrio come, a
bohemian crowd with
eclectic music tastes, which
means there’s usually
something interesting
playing. I know one of the owners, Natalia, a bit,
because I used to come here a lot when I lived
nearby. It was like my second home in the
summer – a brilliant place to escape the crowds.
It’s also part of the slow-food movement,
and does great vegetarian and organic food
paired with an interesting selection of craft
beers, which is a relatively new thing for
Catalunya. I love that you can now get
something different from the usual cervezas.
The best thing is sitting out on their
terrace in the evening with a beer
and a plate of patatas salvajes.
You get a gentle breeze, and
can sit and enjoy it with no
particular plan in mind.”
