Happy Birthday,
Pride and Prejudice
As Jane Austen’s most famous novel celebrates 200 years, we look
at the things yo
u didn’t
know...
Austen wanted to call the book First Impressions, but her
publishers forced the name change
Colin Firth originally declined the role
of Mr Darcy in the 1995 BBC mini-series.
His famous lake scene was performed
by a stuntman.
JoeWright, director of the 2005 film, initially
thought Keira Knightley was too attractive
to play the part of Elizabeth, but changed his
mind upon meeting her.
Knightley cut her hair in preparation
for her role in Domino, so wore a wig
during filming.

It’s a knock-out!
Rocky:
Das Musical –
the latest
show to grace the
Hamburg stage – has
seen rave reviews since
its November opening. The
musical version of Sly Stallone’s
1976
movie features the classic
underdog plot, crowd-pleasing soundtrack and, we hope,
regular cries of “Adrian”. Don’t expect to see Stallone, though he
has had a hand in producing this revival.
