BLUE RUN
For couples wanting
a slightly more sedate
ride through town
Verbier isn’t just a place for
singles to hook up – it also
offers a more laid-back,
romantic, mountain-retreat
vibe, if you know where to look.
Splash out and check into
the
CHALET D’ADRIEN
(
chalet-adrien.com
)
for the full,
five-star spa treatment and
plush, cosy suites. “When the
weather is good, hang out
on the deck for great views
over town. It’s very popular
with the Geneva set and rich
Norwegians,” says Sawyer.
Celebrity is never too
far away in Verbier, so while
you’re out on the mountain,
why not visit the brand new
LA VACHE
at the top of
the James Blunt chairlift?
Sawyer tells us this smart
pizza restaurant is owned by
the singer James Blunt himself,
along with British sportsmen
Lawrence Dallaglio and Carl
Fogarty. “It does exciting and
healthy plat du jours for lunch,
with a deck overlooking the
Val de Bagne,” he reveals
next. “It’s always nice to have
dinner up on the mountain
too.”
THE MARMOTTE
RESTAURANT
(

and
LA
MARLENAZ
(

are
both in the Savoleyres ski area
and offer traditional Swiss
fondue cuisine. Afterwards,
finish with a toboggan ride
back down”.
There’s plenty of fine,
candlelit dining to be had in
town too. New this year is
chef Luke Dale-Roberts’
pop-up restaurant
THE
POT LUCK CLUB
(

).
This is the
sister restaurant to his hugely
successful venture based in
Cape Town. It’s opening in the
basement of the Hotel Farinet
and will only be there until
April 2013. “There’s an exciting
menu from his extensive
travels around the globe, from
sashimi to wagu beef. It’s a
must-visit,” Sawyer says.
And, to finish off a night,
head to
THE COUP
D’ETAT
(
coupdetat.ch
),
a small
cocktail bar that’s open till
4
am. “It’s one of my favourite
little bars. Not only is there a
log-burning stove, but it has
old flock wallpaper. Try the
Elite Martini.”
