Expedition Colonia

Underground, overground, wandering
free – that’s the vibe in Cologne this
month, as a revolutionary sightseeing
festival opens up little-seen areas of
the city to visitors. From 7-29 April,
a series of local-led tours will allow
wannabe explorers to clamber down
into the old sewers (
pictured
), across
the famous
Kölner Dom
cathedral roof,
go behind the scenes at the city’s
television studios, or try rafting along
the Rhine. There are 230 experiences
available as part of Expedition Colonia,
so we’re certain you’ll find one that’s
right up (or under or over) your street.
