I enjoy it somuch that I will change air-
lines if you decide not to stay another five
years and exceedWalterDamtoft’s time as
editor of themagazine. I am sure that by
that time, youwill haveearnednot just the
recordof editor’s longest stay inchargebut
also the record formost editorials written
in thismagazine.
Thank you for giving me a smile and
that internal sensation of satisfaction ev-
ery time Ifly.
JOSE LUIS LARREA, PEMBROKEPINES, FLORIDA
DEAR JOSE:
We love our audience (even if
they are captive), and now that Sherri’s
read your letter, she’s so touched that she
has renewed energy to go for the gold. It
takes strenuous training, though — she’s
been undergoing finger exercises (to keep
nimble for all that BlackBerry typing she
does), eye testing (hours of squintingat the
screen takes its toll), and procrastination
treatment (because she occasionally comes
dangerously close tomissing her deadline
for writing the editor’s note, and if she
doesn’t turn it in, she can’twin).
