Open iRead Reports

If your organization uses iRead, then as an administrator, you also have access to the iRead reports for your district(s) and/or school(s). This includes the Current Topic & Usage Report, the Progress Report, and the Screener Results report.

1. In the banner, click the Licenses tab. The Licenses page appears. All the HMH products purchased by your organization appear on this page, displayed as individual cards. If your district has access to iRead, then an iRead card is listed on this page.

The Ordered Licenses tab displays a table showing each district/school's licenses for the selected program. The table breaks down the Teacher and Student licenses for each district or school by license total, start date, end date, and status.

4. Depending on your role, select options from the lists at the top of the page, as follows:

– District administrators: select the district, school, and class from the lists and then select Class Reports from the Reports and Settings list.

– School administrators: select the class from the Class list and then select Class Reports from the Reports and Settings list.

Once students in the selected class begin using iRead, the Current Topic & Usage Report is the first report to appear at the top of this page. Additional reports may appear on the Class Reports page below this report, including a Screener Report, and, if available, a Progress Report.

The iRead Current Topic & Usage Report shows the average number of minutes per session students spent in iRead during the last week, the last month, and the school year.

For each selected class, the report displays the results, as follows:

– Class Average Minutes Per Session – average number of minutes per session that the class has spent in iRead over the last week, month, and school year. These numbers display in red when usage is below the recommended time.

– Current Topic – the iRead topic in which the student is currently working

– Cycles in Topic – the number of cycles, or times, the student has worked on the current topic

○ If a student requires more than one cycle in a topic, this could be a sign that the student is not fluent in the topic skills.

○ If a student does not complete a topic after two cycles, the student is “Deferred,” meaning that the student is automatically moved to the next topic rather than repeating it for a third time. If a student is deferred, the student will return to this topic for another try before completing the series.

– Last Week/Last Month/School Year– shows the student's usage in the form of the average number of minutes per session that the student has spent in iRead over the last week, month, and school year. These numbers display in red when usage is below the recommended time.

– (* If applicable) Deferred/Whole Class Buttons – select button to see "deferred" list or whole class list, as follows:

* The Deferred/Whole Class buttons appear when at least one of the students in the selected class has a deferred topic. If none of the students have deferred topics, then the report defaults to the "Whole Class" view and the Deferred/Whole Class buttons do not appear.

○ If the Deferred button is clicked, the report filters to show only those students who have "deferred" topics, meaning the student did not complete the topic after two cycles and was moved forward in the program rather than repeating the topic for a third time. The student will automatically be returned to this topic for another try within the series before proceeding to the next series.

○ If the Whole Class button is clicked, the report lists all students in the class and notes the topic in which each student is currently working.

The iRead Progress Report monitors student progress against either mid-year or end-of year grade-level benchmarks by tracking where each student placed in the iRead Screener and where each student is currently within the iRead scope and sequence.

This allows you to see who is tracking below grade level and identify students who may need additional time using iRead or receiving one-on-one instruction.

The graph displays where each student placed within the iRead software after taking the iRead Screener and where the student is currently within the iRead software (Series), as follows:

– For each student, the initial iRead Screener placement in the iRead software is represented by an open grey circle, and the student's current location and progress through the iRead software is represented by a circle with a color.

– The color of the circle indicates how the student is performing against grade-level benchmarks.

– The Mid and End lines on the graph represent grade-level benchmarks. These mid-year and end-of-year benchmarks correspond to grade-level expectations for the selected class.

When students begin using iRead, they start with a Screener that assesses their foundational reading skills and determines the appropriate placement within the iRead software.

The Screener Report shows you where each student placed in the software along with whether they are On Grade Level, Above Level, Below Level, or Far Below Level according to grade-level benchmarks.

Fluency scores are determined based on student’s performance in the Screener and are used to determine where to place students in the iRead software.

For each student in the selected class who has completed iRead Screener, the report displays the results, as follows:

– Student – student name

– Screener Date – the date the Screener was taken by the student; If the student was rescreened, only the last date appears.

– Level/Series

○ Level A, B, or C aligns to the grade level in which the student was placed:

A = Kindergarten, B = 1st Grade, C = 2nd Grade

Note: Students cannot be placed above their current grade even if their fluency score is at a higher grade level. Students can, however, place in a lower level if they score below their current grade level.

○ Series indicates the series within the iRead software in which the student was placed.

– Total Fluent – The student’s fluency score can range from 0 to 82 based on their current reading skills.

– Placement Note – Students can be Above Grade Level, On Grade Level, Below Grade Level, or Far Above Grade Level.

– Initial Placement by Total Fluent – provides a key to the Level and Series placement based on fluency score
