Model Metrics Overview
Using model metrics enables you to capture model information, which
can then be digested, summarized and visualized to provide insights. Clarity
can capture a wide variety of information and use it for analytical purposes.
This data can be used by Clarity or by other Business Intelligence tools
such as Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI. Clarity captures these analytics
mostly as a part of the task automation process, so the data can be captured
automatically in batch (overnight, or on a scheduled basis).
This information is now centrally available in the Metrics
area of Clarity, which is available to all global Project Coordinators
and Administrators.
Tracking Data with Clarity
There are various types of data that Clarity can track. These are:
Basic Revit Info
- File Size
- File Open Time
- File Synch-To-Central Time (with the Clarity
Addin)
- Revit build information
for each open
Revit Modeling Performance (Autodesk Performance Advisor)
- 20 different criteria trying to address the model's
slow performance
- The information is provided using the Performance
Advisor task.
Quantity Snapshots
- Snapshots of the number or summary parameters associated
with various Revit categories (i.e. Total Room Square Footage,
Total Lineaer Feet of Walls By Type).
- The information is captured using the Quantity
Snapshot task.
Model Analytics
- More than a dozen different model metrics that can
be used to gauge modeling standards, model complexity, model cleanup,
etc.
- With Revit 2018 and higher, it is possible
to capture Revit Warnings and Errors in the model. The model metrics
captures the overall number, as well as breaking them down into customizable
severity levels.
- The information is captured using the Model
Metrics task.
Viewing Data from Within a Project
- Use the Model Metrics pane under the specific project
to view the various metrics recorded and their status.
- The Graphs
tab shows the metrics across projects or across models
in a project.
- It is possible to create reports
to view the Quantity Snapshot data within a project.
- It is direct to the database. The SQL database(s)
that make up Clarity can be queried directly with a variety of tools.
For information on model metrics within the context of a project, see
Model Metrics.
