If you would like to print out a form to send in, please click here to download a printable version of ADOPTion form. The ADOPT program is excited to debut an exclusive gift for wildlife enthusiasts in which the recipient becomes an ADOPTive parent to a different Los Angeles Zoo animal each month for an entire year.
Any animal in the zoo is available for ADOPTion, although currently heading the “popularity” list are elephants, koalas, tigers, giraffes, gorillas, giant otters, meerkats, snow leopards, hippos, jaguars, Komodo dragons and California condors. This year’s holiday ADOPT package once again honors our favorite quartet of reindeer—Noel, Belle, Velvet, and Jingle—and the mischievous Monkey stars of our popular and expanded L.A. Priced at $60, this package includes a personalized ADOPT certificate, a photo fact sheet of your adopted animal, an ADOPT window decal, and your choice of a 10-inch Reindeer, Monkey or Giraffe plush animal. The Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens is owned, operated, and maintained by the City of Los Angeles. The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is the official support arm of the Zoo.

In its first year, the Center, operated by Best Friends Animal Society as part of its NKLA (No Kill Los Angeles) initiative, has adopted out more than 1,800 dogs and cats. NKLA [No-Kill Los Angeles] is an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society, to turn Los Angeles into a no-kill city by the year 2017. Click here to go to the NKLA website to search for available pets at the NKLA Pet Adoption Center.
If you've found the pet you want at either pet center, you can print and fill out an adoption survey below. Funds from the ADOPT program help the Zoo participate in more than 40 international conservation programs that help endangered species. Recipients receive a personalized adoption certificate and unique animal fact sheet with a photo of their animal ambassador. All animals remain in the care of the Los Angeles Zoo and no ownership rights are conferred.

For more information, or to ADOPT an animal over the phone, please contact the Development Division at (323) 644-6035. The tax deductible gift package begins with a unique “photo album” designed to hold the year’s collection of animal factsheets and adoption certificates, and continues each with the arrival of the photo factsheet and personalized certificate matching that month’s animal. Zoo Lights program, as well as celebrating the recent birth of our adorable male baby giraffe, born October 9, 2015. Then bring it with you when you come in to meet your potential new pet, so your adoption process will already be underway!
