Ingredients

cup whole moong dal

For 6 hours soak moong dal in water and then drain it, and add to pressure cooker
cups water add to cooker

teaspoon turmeric add to cooker

tablespoon ghee
teaspoon asafoetida/heeng

teaspoon jeera

teaspoon turmeric

teaspoon red chilli powder- as per taste, even optional

cloves, crush using mortar

peppercorns, crush using mortar

green chilli split half way

teaspoon coriander powder

teaspoon garam masala
¼
cup milk - optional

inch ginger, grate it

big onion, grate it or chop it small

medium sized tomatoes, puree/grind it

Directions

  1. Follow Step1. Pressure cook on medium to high flame for 1 whistle. Then on low flame for 3 minutes. Wait for cooker to cool down before you open it.
  2. Follow ingredients in Step2. Heat the wok, add 1 table spoon ghee
  3. Add item from step2 into wok- heeng, jeera, chilli, coriander, cloves, pepper, split geen chilli, grated ginger.
  4. Add grated onion and add 1/2 table spoon salt. Cook all the items in the wok well, till it starts leaving oil.
  5. Add the pureed tomatoes, cook it well
  6. Add the prepared dal from Step1
  7. boil the dal in high flame for 2-3 minutes
  8. Add the optional milk and give one boil
  9. Add garam masala and mix it well, give one quik boil. Garnish coriander
