Author: admin, 25.04.2015Garlic is a proven antifungal that is a simple and easy addition to your Candida treatment plan. You can start taking garlic supplements once you have finished your cleanse and moved on to the strict anti-Candida diet. There is a wide range of scientific literature supporting the use of garlic as an antifungal.
One of the key compounds in garlic is ajoene, a proven antifungal that has been shown to be effective against many fungal strains. Garlic products can be found in a number of different forms, in both your supermarket and your health food store. Although a natural remedy, concentrated garlic can still interact with other medicines, so always consult a health professional. Side effects from garlic include upset stomach, bloating, bad breath, body odor, and a stinging sensation on the skin from handling too much fresh or dried garlic. Other side effects that have been reported by those taking garlic supplements include headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle aches, dizziness described as vertigo (namely, the room spinning), and allergies such as an asthmatic reaction or contact dermatitis (skin rash). If you're looking for a more comprehensive Candida treatment plan, check out Lisa Richards' new program, the Ultimate Candida Diet. Lisa's plan is based on the latest research into Candida, and contains everything you need to know to beat your Candida overgrowth. Lisa's approach to beating Candida involves probiotics, natural antifungals and a low sugar diet.
Candida can be partly blamed on our lifestyle choices, and in particular our diet of highly processed foods and in particular refined sugary foods.
As a result, people who suffer from Candida are tired, exhausted and feel like they have no energy to do anything. Mother Nature has provided the strongest anti-fungal that kills Candida and acts as a natural antiseptic: Garlic!
Research has confirmed that garlic can eliminate serious outbreaks of infection, often within two days. The amazing chemical Allicin found in garlic, when mixed with Allinase enzyme through digestion of the garlic cloves, produce Alliin: a powerful antioxidant that can help kill Candida. Eating garlic raw, rather than cooking it, will ensure you will get the most out of the photochemical Alliin it contains. Of course you should be aware that the side effects of having too much garlic might include bad breath, body odour or stomach upsets. One other point to to take note of: as the garlic takes effect ad there is an accumulation of Candida dying off in the gut, you may need to stop eating the garlic long enough to allow your body to catch up with elimination of the toxins. Thanks for the insights in Garlic, i find its also very useful for me when i use it sparingly as needed.
I knew garlic was a food with extraordinary effects on bodyhealth, but recently i’ve read a book that said despite its health benifits raw garlic in the form described above could upset the stomach and so digestion. As you may have read on the other in-depth articles on honey and Candida, honey really does stop a yeast infection. One treatment that tastes good and really does help stop a yeast infection is honey and cinnamon. Cinnamon bark contains a few various phytochemicals that are responsible for its Candida killing powers. There has been a lot of research done on Cinnamon and Cinnamaldehyde and their effects on Candida species. If you are already taking an antifungal drug to cure a vaginal yeast infection, cinnamon has also been shown to help reduce biofilm activity of Candida; and, it creates a healing synergy when used in tandem with such drugs.

In addition to its use as an antifungal, garlic can support your immune system, reduce cholesterol, and help control blood sugar levels. As always, it is better to take two or three antifungals at once to prevent the Candida from adapting, so you can use garlic in addition to other natural antifungals.
Garlic tablets, softgels and oils are widely available, and fresh garlic cloves make a tasty addition to many recipes. In your supermarket you will find items like fresh garlic cloves, garlic paste, crushed garlic, garlic flakes or garlic powder. Garlic has a blood-thinning property that can be very useful, but can also be dangerous to sufferers of hemophilia or platelet disorders, as well as pregnant women or patients about to undergo surgery. She writes regular posts on the causes, symptoms and treatment of Candida, and has helped thousands of Candida sufferers recover from their condition. Using the right combination of these three elements is the best way to overcome a Candida overgrowth. So an alternative way may be to eat raw garlic greens or black garlic, which i belief do not contain the irritant effects.
I have used garlic for this problem and IBS and garlic and aloe vera have been my life savers! If taken with ginger, it will stop any nausea caused by garlic, which almost always happens to me. I might have tried this if I hadn’t been recommended a great thrush treatment by a friend who lives in Adelaide.
You can make some delicious recipes with these ingredients, safe in the knowledge that the food you are eating is helping with your Candida treatment too. It contains Lauric acid and Caprylic acid, which both help prevent Candida overgrowth and strengthen your immune system.
They also help to flush excess fluids out the body – this is useful because many Candida sufferers experience water retention. It is rich in Iodine to help balance your thyroid gland – Candida sufferers often experience hypothyroidism and its many symptoms. It contains powerful anti-fungal properties and stimulates your immune system response to Candida. It helps to digest food and reduces constipation by cleansing the bowel of Candida and other toxins. For example, a 1988 study (see the full text here) found that “the growth of Candida Albicans was found to be markedly inhibited by AGE [aqueous garlic extract]”. When these two natural compounds come into contact (by chopping the garlic, crushing it or by other means), they form an antibacterial agent named allicin, which then combines to form ajoene. You can use garlic as a complement to your other antifungals without having to spend a great deal of money. Onions along with garlic can give you breath issues, so a handy tip is to eat them with a bit of parsley to counter the smell. It also has a soothing effect on any inflammation that the Candida overgrowth may cause in your intestinal tract. It has also been shown to help stabilize blood sugar levels – this is important for Candida sufferers because elevated blood sugar levels can feed your yeast overgrowth. Cayenne also increases metabolism and circulation, which will help to reduce one of the most common Candida symptoms, fatigue. According to another article by Huntington College of Health Sciences, “Research has clearly shown that garlic has anticandidal activity, inhibiting both the growth and function of Candida Albicans”. To get the best results and prevent the Candida yeast from adapting to the treatment, it is best to take two or three antifungals at the same time. Consult your doctor or health professional before starting a treatment or making any changes to your diet. The study reported that Candida with such biofilms, when present, give Candida about 1024 times its normal resistance to antifungal drugs! As with other antifungals, scientists suspect that it works by disrupting the cells walls of the Candida yeast cells.
